Institution viennoise au charme discret, l’Eissalon TICHY cultive depuis des générations une gourmandise précise et sans tapage, entre carrelage rétro et ballet calme des habitués. On y vient pour ses glaces et surtout pour la légendaire Eismarillenknödel — un clin d’œil à l’obsession locale pour l’abricot, servie avec une élégance toute simple. Une halte qui raconte la ville telle qu’elle se vit aujourd’hui : fidèle à ses rituels, mais naturellement contemporaine.
5+ stars for the ice cream. Especially hazelnut, pistachio and strawberry is in my opinion the very best of all the ice salons in Vienna. I would give 3-4 stars for the back room where you can sit, since everything's very narrow and you have to wait even on normal days to get a seat. I tried the classic Eismarillenknödel. The apricot core, vanilla ice cream, and hazelnut coating are unlike any ice cream I have ever had. It is an interesting match of flavors, but on the sweeter side. The parlor is a stone's throw from the Reumannplatz station. There is a park nearby where you can sit and savour your dessert
Café Tichy is a classic spot with a nostalgic charm. Known for its iconic Eismarillenknödel, it delivers a unique and delicious treat you won’t easily find elsewhere. Service is quick and efficient, though the atmosphere can feel a bit old-fashioned. Definitely worth a visit for the dessert alone.
